Before you register
Registration guide
Two decisions on this page shape everything that follows — which kind of account you need, and the exact name EPA will print on your documents. Both are difficult to change afterwards.
Register once, and register the right entity. A single account covers your entire lifetime of EPA engagements. Each distinct legal entity needs its own account — if you own more than one company, each must register separately.
1. Choose the right account type
Organisation / company
A business registered with the Registrar-General. One account covers every permit, licence and product registration the company ever files.
You will need
- The company's registered name and RGD number
- Its TIN and company type
- One contact person, with the position they hold
Government institution
A ministry, department, agency, assembly or public institution. One account covers all of its regulatory engagements with EPA.
You will need
- The institution's name and acronym
- Its type and level of jurisdiction
- One contact officer, with the position they hold
Individual
A person applying strictly in their own capacity — never on behalf of a company. If a business is involved, register the business instead.
You will need
- Your full name as it appears on your Ghana Card
- Your Ghana Card number
- Your own email address and phone number
Agent / consultant
An environmental consultant filing for clients. EPA never issues a permit to an agent: your clients grant you a mandate from their own accounts.
You will need
- Your own name and Ghana Card number
- The consultancy you practise under
- Your accreditation, if you hold one
2. Get the name right
Every permit, licence and certificate EPA issues carries the preferred name on your account, exactly as you type it. It must be the legal entity that will carry out the activity — not a trading name, not a parent company, and not the person filing on its behalf.
A document issued in the wrong name does not authorise the entity that actually holds it, and correcting one after issuance means a fresh application and a fresh fee.
3. What happens after you submit
- Your account is created, but not yet usable You get a client reference — ORG-000123 or similar — and the account sits pending.
- Pay the registration fee The amount depends on the account type and is shown before you commit. Government institutions register free of charge.
- Activate with the code EPA sends you A six-digit code goes to the email address you registered. It lasts 24 hours.
- Sign in and file The account is then active for the lifetime of your engagement with EPA.
Agents and consultants. Never ask a client for their password. Your client sends you a mandate from their own account, and you select that client from your mandate list when filing. The mandate is what keeps both accounts secure, and it is what lets a client revoke your access without changing anything else.
